SECTION 1. PURPOSE.
.01 The purpose of this order is to establish a Department-wide standard for the identification of Department of Commerce (the Department) facilities and projects.
.02 This revision updates the office name change, effective November 13, 2014, per DOO 20-1, Director for Facilities and Environmental Quality.
SECTION 2. GENERAL PROVISIONS.
.01 Locations of Department organizational elements, facilities, physical projects and major equipment shall be identified by appropriate signs. The signs shall include the name of the Department, i.e., U.S. Department of Commerce, and, where relevant, the name of the operating unit, and, if desired, its principal subordinate element. The latter identifications shall follow and be subordinate in size and location on the sign to the identification of the Department.
.02 As provided by Department Administrative Order 201-1, "Approval and Use of
Seals, Emblems, Insignias and Logos," the seal of the Department and/or the seal or emblem of an operating unit may be imprinted on signs, to identify office locations, facilities, physical projects, and major equipment of the Department.
.03 In instances of joint locations or projects with other governmental organizations (Federal, state or municipal), the operating unit concerned shall assure that the sign or signs used appropriately identify the Department and the operating unit.
SECTION 3. EFFECT ON OTHER ORDERS.
This Order supersedes Department Administrative Order 217-2, dated December 6, 2019.
