Our History

Office of Computer Services has been in business at its current location in Springfield , Virginia , just outside the Capitol beltway, for over 20 years.   In October 1996, Office of Computer Services began operating as one of six government franchise funds in accordance with the business principles promulgated by the Chief Financial Officers' Council.

As a result, customers can benefit from quality services at lower costs and with quicker implementation.  Office of Computer Services provides services under agreements with its customers, and is willing and able to serve as partners with other Federal or private sector organizations to provide total solutions to customer requirements. Office of Computer Services provides its services to all of its customers on a cost reimbursable basis.

With a long history of providing technology processing support on IBM mainframe computers, OCS supports open systems and Windows servers, as well as a range of services includes housing and operating servers, and providing systems administration, database administration, connectivity and communications support, data backup and recovery, disaster recovery, access control and security, help desk support, and related administrative services.

Primarily supporting administrative and financial systems, such as those for human resources management, procurement and grants, and property management systems, OCS additionally processes some mission-specific systems for Department of Commerce components.
