About the Minority Serving Institutions Program

 

The Minority Servicing Institutions (MSIs) Program coordinates and administers a variety of Departmental initiatives to support relationships and partnerships with institutions of higher education, and to ensure equal access to all Department of Commerce grants, contracts, cooperative agreements and programs.

 

 

 

MSI Measurables/End Results

 

  • Increase public awareness about the Department of Commerce Increase public awareness about the diversity of occupations at the Department of Commerce

 

  • Increase MSI competition and participation in federally funded programs

 

  • Increase student participation in the Student Career Experience Program and other student employment programs

 

  • Increase diversity in the number of new hires for full time permanent positions

There are approximately 575 institutions across the Nation.
