Management Discussion and Analysis

This section provides an overview of the financial and performance information contained in the Performance Section, Financial Section, and Appendices. It includes and overview of the Department's organizations, highlights of the Department's most important performance goals and results, current status of systems and internal control weaknesses. It also includes other pertinent information, such as the progress being made by the Department in implementing the President's Management Agenda (PMA) and the key management challenges identified by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

FY 2006 Performance Section

This section provides the annual performance information, including a detailed discussion and analysis of the Department's performance in FY 2006. Within the Department's four Strategic Goals, results are presented for every bureau and major office by Performance Goal.

Strategic Goal 1: Provide the information and tools to maximize U.S. competitiveness and enable economic growth for American industries, workers, and consumers.

Strategic Goal 2: Foster science and technological leadership by protecting intellectual property, enhancing technical standards, and advancing measurement science.

Strategic Goal 3: Observe, protect, and manage the Earth's resources to promote environmental stewardship.

Management Integration Goal: Achieve organizational and management excellence.

FY 2006 Financial Report

This section contains the details of the Department's finances in fiscal year 2006. A letter from the Department's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is followed by the information on the Department's Financial Management, Debt Management, Payments Management, audited financial statements, other supplemental financial information, and the Independent Auditor's Report.
